Why Submit to Directories?
We submit our websites to directories for a few important reasons.
First of all, being listed in a directory generally involves having the link to your website
placed within a defined category. This helps guide targeted traffic to your website. They
arrived at the section within the directory because they were seeking something related to
your service, product, or business opportunity.
Second, as search engine spiders visit these directory listings they follow the link to
your website. If your site has not previously been listed but you have followed search
engine optimization techniques, your site will probably show up in search returns for
that search engine fairly soon..."soon" being a relative term.
Once your website IS listed in a search engine, such as Google, backlinks from
directories can increase your page rank within the search engine. Additionally,
as most directories market their own sites to the search engines professionally
and regularly, your site is likely to be picked up by major search engines
and reindexed regularly.
